Winter Ski Hat: Womens Ski Apparel Essentials

Little is said about the importance of a ski hat. Probably its coverage in a skier’s body is not as significant as the ski jackets and ski pants but ski hat for sure is another womens ski apparel that one should not be missed having.

Some say that 50% of body heat lost is possible if a body is exposed to hard cold environment. Though I do not have enough fact to support the statement, one thing is for sure though; that wearing a hat in cold winter weather can make a big difference on how warm and comfortable a skier can feel inside.

Ski hats are part of womens ski apparel and considered as major fashion statements especially for women who obviously loathe for style. Though preference and fashion style may vary from person to person; one thing I can say about quality ski hat is its ability to fit well and snugly in a skier’s head. Other  novelty ski hats with funny characters depends on the skiers preference and fashion style and I guess I am not in the position to comment more further on that.

But judging on the skiers need, warmth, comfort and style should rule. Ski hats are specifically designed for skiing purposes solely. That is why baseball caps may not play its part at field of skiing. Aside from the fact that they are not insulated, they tend to fly off at even the slowest speeds. That is why most of the ski hats are woolly or beanie styled. These kinds of style fit snugly around the head and cover the ears, without any extending parts that might catch the wind.

The most common types of fabrics used in making ski hats are acrylic, fleece and wool.  These fabrics are also essentials in other womens ski apparel in the inner and mid layers. Acrylic ability to stretch easily and fleece, which is made of polyester provides warmth in cold temperatures. A mixture of wool and acrylic can give a good balance of comfort, warmth and quality which will keep the skier warm and last a long time. Merino wool particularly has become a popular choice of fiber as it has an extra fine weave which feels soft and insulates very well making them an indispensable fabric in ski hats.
